LEBANON, Maine — Two teenage girls were hospitalized Monday evening after their vehicle rolled over on Lower Guinea Road, according to officials.

The accident was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m., Lebanon Rescue Assistant Chief Jason Cole said.

The teens, both 16 and from Lebanon, were trapped in the Nissan Sentra when rescue crews arrived, according to Cole.

The vehicle was heading westbound on Lower Guinea Road when it left the road, struck a telephone pole and rolled over, Cole said.

The force of the collision broke the telephone pole and totaled the vehicle, Cole said.

Both girls were extricated from the vehicle and transported to Frisbie Hospital in Rochester, N.H., for treatment of serious injuries not considered life-threatening, Cole said.

The teens were both wearing seat belts, Cole said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
