Shakespeare workshop and performance slated for Nov. 9

BANGOR, Maine — The Penobscot Theatre Company Education Department and the Bangor Ballet will collaborate on Saturday, Nov. 9, to facilitate a workshop 4-5 p.m. and performance 5:30-7 p.m. based on the work of William Shakespeare.

The workshop is open to children and adults

Using an interdisciplinary approach, participants will have the opportunity to investigate “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as interpreted through theater and dance. The community is invited to attend a one-hour workshop with longtime Shakespeare in the Schools teaching artists Jasmine Ireland and Benjamin Layman to explore language, movement, interpretation and style in the context of Shakespearean performance. This will then be followed by a performance by the teaching artists and Bangor Ballet students presenting “Titania’s Dream.” An audience question and answer session will follow the performance.

Tickets for the workshop and the performance are $25. Tickets for the performance only are $12, $8 children under 12.
