Police probing string of 17 Orrington car burglaries

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ORRINGTON, Maine — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a rash of car burglaries that occurred in Orrington early Sunday morning.

Sgt. Jon Carson of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said 17 burglaries occurred in the area of Snow’s Corner Road, Cheryl Drive and Salisbury Ridge Road on Sunday.

Items stolen from unlocked vehicles included a Macbook, a couple of iPods, wallets and spare change, the sergeant said.

Carson said it appeared whomever was responsible for the burglaries was looking for a quick score. No arrests have been made in the cases.

Carson is advising residents to keep vehicles and homes locked and to not leave items of value in vehicles.

Anyone with information on the incidents should call the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office at 825-4178.
