FREEPORT — In a rematch of last year’s Western Maine Class D final, eighth-grader Nick Foley scored off a cross from Matt DiAngelo three minutes into the second overtime on Monday, lifting Greenville to a 4-3 semifinal victory over host Pine Tree Academy.

DiAngelo registered a hat trick for the No. 4 Lakers (12-3-1), who advance to play No. 2 Richmond in Wednesday’s 2 p.m. regional championship game.

The Lakers went ahead when DiAngelo found the net on an indirect kick after a Trevor Richards touch for the first half’s only goal. The top-seeded Breakers (14-2) tied it two minutes into the second half on Javal Stewart’s goal off a scramble in front of the goal.

DiAngelo responded about 10 minutes later when he finished on a through ball from Evan Sullivan. Pine Tree evened the score a minute later when Chris Wilday scored off an Andrew Alvarez pass.

The Breakers then took the lead when Andrew Goorhuis headed in a corner from Bosung Gong, but DiAngelo tied it with 16 minutes left in regulation with a 25-yard volley.

Howie Stone made 6 saves on 9 shots for Greenville. Pine Tree Academy’s Ryan Pierce had 2 saves on 6 shots.
