CARIBOU, Maine — The first day of November will bring with it gusty winds and rain, prompting a high wind watch from the National Weather Service’s Caribou office.

The watch will be in effect starting Friday afternoon and into Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Aroostook, Penobscot and Piscataquis counties are expected to be affected.

Winds with gusts of up to 60 mph are forecast, which could lead to downed trees, power lines and scattered electrical outages.

Rain, which could be heavy at times, also is predicted to occur throughout the state.
