Can we talk here?

Joan Rivers brings her ribald red carpet humor and sharp wit to Portland next month. Get some laughs in before the holidays hit at her live performance Nov. 22 at Merrill Auditorium.

Dishing on the latest topics, from politics, to sports to her brushes with plastic surgery, nothing is taboo for this comedian who got her start in the Borscht Belt clubs and Greenwich Village cabarets. As a stand-in for Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show,” Rivers became a well-loved television star. She has won an Emmy, been nominated for a Tony, a best-selling author, playwright, film director, radio host and overall survivor.

Younger generations know her as the acerbic commentator on celebrity and style with her daughter Melissa.

Before Rivers gets down and provocative on stage, male singers, all graduates of the University of Southern Maine School of Music, will perform saucy theater songs. “The Joan Rangers” will be accompanied by a band of local musicians led by Portland’s Chris Oberholtzer.

Tickets for Joan Rivers LIVE are $41-$63 for Portland Ovations members and $45-$70 for the general public. To purchase tickets, visit portlandovations.org or contact PortTIX at 842-0800 or at the box office at Merrill Auditorium, 20 Myrtle St., Portland.
