PORTLAND, Maine — A former Brunswick pharmacist was convicted Wednesday of two charges of stealing drugs in connection with a theft of Oxycodone and Ambien.

John Underwood of Bath was sentenced in Cumberland County Superior Court to two years in prison with all but 14 years suspended, Attorney General Janet Mills said.

Underwood will also be on probation for two years, Mills said. He is prohibited from accepting employment that involves access to controlled substances.

Underwood’s pharmacist license was revoked in April 2012 by the Maine Board of Pharmacy.

Underwood will also pay $800 in fines, according to Mills. He was the Pharmacy Manager at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick when the crimes were committed.
