Police searching for vehicle, suspect in hit and run at Broadway shopping plaza

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are seeking a suspect involved in a hit and run accident in the parking lot of the Broadway Shopping Plaza.

A black Honda, described as either an Accord or Civic by witnesses, struck and significantly damaged a parked car, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

The accident occurred in the area of Kentucky Fried Chicken shortly after 7 p.m., Rumsey said. The driver then fled without any attempt to contact police or the vehicle’s owner.

The Honda had significant front-end damage, was leaking fluid and possibly dragging its muffler, the sergeant said.

The vehicle, driven by a young man who is possibly high-school-aged, was last seen headed toward Interstate 95 on Broadway, Rumsey said. The driver had a female passenger with him.

Anyone with information on the accident or knowledge of the vehicle’s whereabouts should call Officer Josh Kuhn at 947-7384, ext. 5769, or use extension 6 to leave an anonymous tip.
