BANGOR, Maine — A local man accused of taking more than $50,000 in electronics and jewelry in burglaries this summer was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury.

Peter A. Carbone, 21, of Bangor was indicted on nine counts of burglary, eight counts of theft by unauthorized taking and one count each of unauthorized use of property, criminal operating under the influence of intoxicants and operating after suspension.

Carbone was arrested Sept. 4 by Bangor police after a resident reported returning home to find he’d been burglarized, Michael Roberts, deputy district attorney for Penobscot County said Wednesday. The homeowner told police he’d just heard a car pull away. Police arrested Carbone a short time later, the prosecutor said.

Three of the burglaries and thefts were in Orono and the others occurred in Bangor between mid-July and Carbone’s arrest, Roberts said. Carbone took more than $10,000 worth of items in two of the burglaries.

Carbone remains jailed and unable to make bail set at $50,000 cash.
