Freshman propels Maine field hockey team by Providence

KINGSTON, R.I. – Freshman Danielle Aviani scored two of Maine’s four goals to lead the Black Bears to a 4-1 field hockey win over Providence in Kingston, R.I., on Monday afternoon.

Aviani scored the first and last goals for UMaine (10-8), with Syndey Veljacic getting an assist. Holly Stewart and Nicole Sevey tallied a goal each for the Bears, with Annabelle Hamiltonand Veljacic adding assists.

Natasha Ford made 10 saves in the win.

Sally Adua scored on a Natasha Ford assist for Prvoidence (8-8). Deidra Clymer made one save.
