BELGRADE, Maine — An Oakland man is facing multiple charges after leading state police on a short pursuit on Tuesday night.

Ronnie McBreairty, 30, has a long list of license suspensions and a pair of operating under the influence convictions on his record, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron Hayden.

McBreairty’s pickup truck reached speeds of up to 75 mph during the 15-minute chase on routes 8 and 11, according to Hayden. Police were tipped off when witnesses reported a vehicle driving erratically in Belgrade, the lieutenant said.

The chase started around 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Hayden. McBreairty was taken into custody after pulling into a driveway on Stevens Road, Hayden said.

McBreairty, whom Hayden said has more than 20 license suspensions, is facing charges of failing to stop for a police officer, eluding a police officer, operating under the influence and operating after suspension.

He was brought to the Kennebec County Jail, where he remained Wednesday.
