Carol (Reed) Andersen

OLD TOWN – Carol (Reed) Andersen died Oct. 16, 2013, of complications following heart surgery at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was born July 31, 1926, in Buffalo, N.Y. She was the daughter of Herbert Reed, born in England, and Helen (Jansen) Reed of Fort Erie, Ontario.

She was graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University and earned an M.A. from the University of Utah. She loved swimming, Tai Chi, and kayaking. She was an avid photographer who had a recent exhibit at the Bangor Public Library.

She is survived by her loved family, Peter Andersen and wife, Suzanne Malis-Andersen; Kristen Andersen and her family, Barton Akeley, Caitlin Akeley, Lauren Akeley and Charles Reed Martin; and Lesley Palmer and her son, Caedmon Reed Palmer. Her survivors also include a niece, Susan Phillips; and nephew, William Oliver, and their families. She was predeceased by a sister, Edythe Reed Oliver; and by her former husband, Charles L. Andersen.
