PITTSFIELD, Maine — A railroad crossing in downtown Pittsfield will be closed to traffic for the first half of the week as crews conduct paving work around the tracks.

The Main Street railroad crossing on Route 100 will be shut down to traffic from Monday through Wednesday as Pan Am Railways crews rehabilitate the crossing and Maine Department of Transportation workers pave the area between the tracks.

Through traffic will not be allowed on the crossing. Drivers are recommended to detour through the Pittsfield Industrial Park. Only northbound local traffic will be allowed to pass over the tracks.

Traffic coming from the north can also access downtown via Somerset Avenue. Anyone with questions should contact the MDOT’s Bangor office at 941-4500.
