Intoxicated Bangor man accused of assaulting girlfriend at convenience store

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A man was arrested for allegedly hitting his girlfriend at a local convenience store Saturday night, police said.

Patrons at Leadbetter’s on Hammond Street had witnessed Jeff Bolette, 56, of Bangor slap his girlfriend on multiple occasions with an open palm, according to Bangor police Sgt. Wade Betters.

After the witnesses called police, Bolette apparently fled the scene, but came back shortly after police arrived, according to Betters.

Bolette, who was intoxicated, had been chased off by the bystanders, Betters explained.

Both parties were interviewed and Bolette was arrested and brought to Penobscot County Jail, the sergeant said. He remained there Monday.
