GLENBURN – Kenneth E. Spencer, 82, died peacefully in his sleep on Oct. 19, 2013, at his home. He was born July 8, 1931, in Bangor, the son of John and Josephine (Thompson) Spencer.
In the early years Kenneth worked at Bangor Roofing with his father, later retired from the Bangor Water District after 25 plus years. In retirement he enjoyed helping others with home repairs, and he especially enjoyed working with his hands. He loved watching westerns, camping, and his many trips to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Waterfalls were his favorite discoveries.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 63 years, Priscilla (True) Spencer; three daughters, Donna Demkow and her husband, Joseph, of Ellsworth, Roxanne Russell and her husband, Ronald, of Scarbourough, and Kim Kearns and her husband, Alfred, of Bangor; six grandchildren, Tracy, Jennifer, Holly, Kenneth, Ryan, and Tara; 15 great grandchildren; six sisters, Ellen Boudreau, Christine Seger, Mary Worcester, Priscilla Candellari, Shirley Kepple, and Sharon Clark; a brother, Irving Spencer; and several nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Leonard Spencer, Marjorie Tripp, Loretta Spencer, and Elizabeth Spencer; and his favorite pet bird, Corky.
A memorial reception will be held 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
