ELIOT, Maine — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Kennebunk Savings Bank Saturday morning.
The robbery, which occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m., was committed by two males, one brandishing a handgun, according to police.
After the robbery, the two suspects left on foot in an unknown direction, police say. The bank is located at 7 Levesque Dr.
In response to the incident, Kennebunk Savings Bank officials released a statement Saturday, confirming that the robbery took place at their banking office.
“Our first and foremost concern is always the safety of our customers and employees,” said Bradford Paige, president and CEO of the bank, “and fortunately everyone is Okay. In order to cooperate fully with the police, we cannot disclose any more information about the incident.”
Due to the robbery, the Eliot Kennebunk Savings Bank office was closed for the rest of the day on Saturday. It is expected to reopen for regular business Monday, with usual hours.
