BANGOR, Maine — No one was seriously hurt when two Ford Escape SUVs collided in Bangor Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Griffin Road and Kenduskeag Avenue, flipping one vehicle onto its side.

A black SUV was driving toward Ohio Street on Griffin Road while another light-colored SUV was heading in the opposite direction. As they approached the intersection, both drivers had a green light, but the light-colored SUV attempted to turn left onto Kenduskeag Avenue, cutting in front of the black SUV, according to police.

The black Escape struck the side of the other vehicle, knocking it onto its side. The accident happened around 12:30 p.m., and Bangor police and fire crews went to the scene.

Police did not release the identities of the people in the vehicles, but did say no one was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The intersection has been the site of several other crashes in the past. On July 5, three people were taken to the hospital after a more serious collision at the intersection.
