Quinnipiac women’s hockey team shuts out UMaine

ORONO, Maine – Nicole Connery’s goal 16:35 into the first period proved the only one 10th-ranked Quinnipiac would need en route to a 4-0 women’s hockey victory over the University of Maine on Friday night at Alfond Arena.

Taryn Baumgardt, Emma Woods and Anna Borgfelt tallied a goal apiece in the third period for the 4-0-1 Bobcats. Kelly Babstock assisted two goals, while Woods and Shelby Wignall added an assist each.

Chelsea Laden made 20 saves to record the shutout for Quinnipiac.

Meghann Treacy made 32 saves for the 0-2-1 Black Bears.

Men’s Soccer

UMFK 2, Washington Adventist 0

At Silver Spring, Md., Wilfried Monthe scored a pair of second-half goals to spark the Bengals to victory.

Monthe scored the game’s first goal at the 57:06 mark, then converted a Matthew Dunn pass with 6:21 remaining. Jamie Cleland made five saves for 13-2 University of Maine-Fort Kent.

Daniel Olofinsua made five stops for Washington Adventist (6-4).
