HANOVER, N.H. — Holly Stewart’s goal at the 42-minute mark, assisted by Sydney Veljacic, proved to be the game-winner as the Maine Black Bears beat the Dartmouth Big Green 4-2 in field hockey action Tuesday.
Danielle Aviani, Veljacic and Nicole Sevey tallied a goal apiece for the University of Maine (8-6), while Becca Paradee, Annabelle Hamilton, Francesca Rowley, Veljacic and Stewart each provided an assist. Sydney Kolysher made five saves in her first start of the season.
Olivia Quaglia and Eliza Becher scored the goals for Dartmouth. Ellen (4-7). Meyer made six saves.
At Standish, Carley Denis scored off a Rachelle Messuri assist at the 19:06 mark of the first half, giving the Monks the only goal they would need to earn a North Atlantic Conference victory over the Eagles.
Kelsey Dumond scored later in the half off a Theresa Hendrix assist for Saint Joseph’s College (10-2, 5-2 NAC). Emma Astbury made three saves.
Maicee Gustin and Kaitlin Dolloff combined to make five saves for Husson University of Bangor (8-5, 5-1 NAC).
At Farmington, Kashley Weymouth scored off a loose ball in front of the goal with 6:22 remaining, lifting the Beavers to a North Atlantic Conference victory over the Terriers.
It was the fourth game-winner of the season for Weymouth. The University of Maine-Farmington had tied the game 3:49 into the second half when Rebecca Young scored.
Curran Brierley made three saves for the Beavers (6-4, 5-1 NAC).
Lauren Hachey netted the goal for Thomas College of Waterville off a Brittany Premo assist. Sofia Sourgiadakis made 12 saves for the Terriers (5-7, 2-4 NAC).
At Katherine Ferland scored twice in the first half en route to a hat trick to power the Bengals to victory.
Ariane Laberge-Pelle provided assists on Ferland’s first two goals, while Vitoria Dubois-Ireda and Brianna Mills each added an assist. Kimika Forbes made five saves for the University of Maine-Fort Kent (12-1).
Colleen Bowes made 10 saves for Pennsylvania College of Technology (8-5-1).
At Farmington, Kaya Tuttle scored second-half goals 2:48 apart to spark the Beavers to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Mariners.
Tuttle scored off a Jenna Silliboy shot and added an unassisted goal for the University of Maine-Farmington (6-6-2, 5-1 NAC), while Meryl Bond converted a cross from Ava Amador. Beth Lebel and Amy Jones combined to make one save.
Taylor O’Malley made eight saves for Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (3-9-2, 2-5-1 NAC).
