PARIS, Maine — A West Paris man suffered minor injuries early Saturday when he fell asleep while driving and struck a telephone pole.
Matthew Ball was on his way to work at about 4:25 a.m. when the crash occurred on Hill Street near the Buckfield Road interchange, said Paris police Officer Raymond Parr.
Ball dozed off for a minute, Parr said. He woke when his Chevy truck ran into the shoulder. He tried to compensate and lost control.
Ball was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, where he was treated and released. His truck suffered “major damage,” Parr said.
The accident also knocked out power to nearby customers for part of the morning.
