GORHAM – Eva K. Dimond passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2013, at the Gorham House in Gorham. She was born on March 1, 1928, with her twin sister, Mary, to the late Will Earl Kellogg and Maria Marsh Kellogg in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Eva attended high school in Michigan. Upon graduation she enrolled in the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree. After graduation, Eva worked as a phone operator for AT&T in Columbus, Ohio, where she met and married, John B. Dimond. John was finishing his PHD in Entomology at Ohio State University. Soon after, Eva and John and their two sons, William and George, moved to Orono. John became a Professor at the University of Maine, and Eva completed her Masters Degree in Library Sciences and worked until her retirement at the Memorial Library at the University of Maine.
Eva was active in the PTA and the League of Women Voters. Also she showed a passion for environmental and conversation causes which she volunteered for as needed.
Eva and her family loved spending their weekends at their camp on Molunkus Lake. She instilled in her sons a love for the outdoors, camping, spirited discussions, big Christmas celebrations and a general zest for life.
Eva will be missed but fondly remembered by her surviving husband, John; two sons, William and George, and their families.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Gorham House and Solamor Hospice for the attentive and loving care she received in her final days.
Arrangements are being handled by Dolby & Dorr Funeral Chapels, Gorham. Per the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours scheduled. Funeral arrangements will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those that wish may make donations to the Atlantic Salmon Federation; or the Nature Conservancy.
