Lewiston woman reports alleged sexual assault to Bath police

By Beth Brogan, BDN Staff

BATH, Maine — Police on Friday continued to investigate the alleged sexual assault of a 27-year-old Lewiston woman that occurred overnight Wednesday somewhere between Lewiston and Bath.

Officers responded just before 3 p.m. Thursday to a local business where the woman reported that she had been sexually assaulted the night before, Bath Police Lt. Robert Savary said Friday.

The woman was subsequently treated at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

“Drugs appear to have been involved in the incident,” Savary said, declining to be more specific.

Savary said it is unclear which law enforcement agency will lead the investigation.

No suspects have been identified, he said. No further information was immediately available.
