Orono police, fire department to hold public safety open house this weekend

ORONO, Maine — The town’s Fire Department and Police Department are teaming up Saturday to offer an open house.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Orono Public Safety Building at 53 Main St.

Among the activities planned are a cooking safety demonstration, ladder truck tours and demonstrations, high angle rescue demonstrations that children can participate in, police car tours, fingerprinting and a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog.

There also will be children’s games, food and a blood pressure clinic.
