SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Two Amato’s employees were allegedly robbed at gunpoint by a pair of men Sunday night after closing the store, police said.

The victims stated to police they were about to enter their vehicles when the suspects approached, according to South Portland police Sgt. Steven Webster.

The robbery was reported shortly after 11 p.m., Webster said.

One suspect drew a handgun and pointed it at the victims and demanded cash, the sergeant said. The suspects got away with a small, undisclosed amount of cash. The victims were not injured.

Both suspects are white males, according to Webster. One stands 6 feet tall with a thin build and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black bandana with patches of white on it. The other suspect stands 5’10’’ with a medium build and was wearing jeans, a white jacket and a white bandana.

Webster is hopeful anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area after 11 p.m. can positively identify the suspects and lead police to an arrest.

Anyone with information should call South Portland police at 799-5515.
