EAST MILLINOCKET – Norman Joseph Chasse Jr., 65, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 3, 1948, in Houlton, the son of Norman J. and Eva (Bourgoin) Chasse.
Norman felt very lucky to have traveled life’s journey with his wife Nancy, and said it was the best decision he ever made. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Norman was a member of the Francis E. Elliot Post No. 4154 V.F.W., David Henry Post No. 80 of the American Legion, and Post No. 1521, B.P.O.E, all of Millinocket. Norman was addicted to New England Patriots football, liked to play pool, and enjoyed golf. He loved family time and trips to Arizona. Norman had a very quick wit, sense of humor and a big heart. He would rather defend the “Little guy” than cozy up to the “Big guy.”
Norman is survived by his mother, Eva Chasse; wife, Nancy; daughter, Starla Chasse; son, Lawrence Chasse; grandchildren, Kevin Cox, Amber Fournier, Anastacia Chasse, Ashley Chasse, Caitlyn Chasse, and Camden Chasse; siblings, Norma Chasse, Ronald Chasse, Donald Chasse, Lynda (Chasse) Pfadt, and Mark Chasse; brother-in-law, Kim Smith and wife, Irina; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Norman J. Chasse Sr.; and his in-laws, Lawrence Smith and Una (Niles) Seamans.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held noon Thursday, Oct. 10, at East Millinocket Cemetery, with Deacon Danny Watson officiating. Remembrances of Norman may be expressed by simply giving a kiss and a hug to someone you care for. Messages of condolence may be given at Norman’s Book of Memories at www.lamsonfh.com.
