SURRY – Franklin M. “Tink” Burke Sr., 71, died peacefully Oct. 3, 2013, at his home in Surry. He was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Dennysville, the son of Malcolm Burke and Violet (Bryant) Burke.
Franklin attended Dennysville Schools. He then joined the United States Air Force and then finished out his service with the Air National Guard. On Aug. 15, 1964, Frank married Carole A (Trott ) Burke. They settled in Surry to raise their family. Frank was a member of the B.P.O.E 2743 Elks Lodge, 2698 Moose Lodge and was also a Mason. He was a Union Painter during his working years and then he was in the Antique business with his good friend, Gary Mitchell. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Law and Order.
Franklin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carole; two sons, Franklin Jr. and Beth of Sedgwick and James and Sheila of Calais; one daughter, April and Roger of Eddington; three grandchildren, Nickolas and Harlie of Brooklin and Damon and Dougi-Ann of Surry; one great-grandson, Maddox of Surry; four brothers, Malcolm “Buddy,” Gordon “Doug,” David, and John; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. Special thanks to Laura Bradford for all her help and care.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ellsworth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moose Lodge Charities, Foster St., Ellsworth ME; or the Pediatric Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
