ORONO, Maine — Friday night’s scheduled high school football game between Bucksport and Orono has been postponed due to the death of a Bucksport student in an automobile accident Thursday evening.

The game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Orono High School, according to Orono High School athletic administrator Mike Archer.

A girls soccer match between the two schools scheduled for Friday afternoon has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Orono, followed by a junior varsity match at 3:30.

The postponement of the football game also affects the induction ceremony for the Orono High School Athletic Hall of Fame, originally scheduled for halftime Friday night as part of the school’s annual homecoming activities.

The Hall of Fame banquet will still be held Friday evening at Pat’s Pizza, while the induction ceremony is now set for Saturday evening at halftime of the rescheduled football game.
