Police investigate report of early morning robbery in Lewiston

By Sun Journal

LEWISTON, Maine – Police early Friday were attempting to determine if a woman had been robbed at gunpoint on Bartlett Street.

Shortly before 1 a.m., a woman called 911 to report a man had robbed her and was holding her at gunpoint, police said. The phone was disconnected before further information was given.

Minutes after the call was received, police were speaking with tenants at 88 Bartlett St. while searching for a victim, a suspect or both. Other officers were searching the area for potential witnesses.

That address is a three-story tenement between Ash and Pine streets. It was not immediately clear how the call was traced to that building. The matter remained under investigation later Friday morning.
