WAYNE, Maine — A local man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a burglary in Vienna, according to police.

Justin Ross, 36, who was on probation, is facing a burglary charge and also had a probation hold put on him, according to Kennebec County Sheriff Randall Liberty.

Deputy Jeremy Day had responded to a Vienna residence on Tuesday for a burglary report that is one of many in a string of burglaries that Ross is allegedly responsible for, Liberty said.

When he got to the scene, he determined that collectable items had been stolen from the residence, the sheriff said.

At approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday, a neighbor spotted a suspicious Buick in the driveway of the residence that had been burglarized, according to Liberty, and the neighbor wrote down the license plate number and reported it to Day.

When Day went to where Ross was staying, he observed several of the burglarized residence’s missing items in the vehicle, Liberty said.

An adjacent building also contained stolen items from the residence, Liberty said. The deputy quickly placed Ross under arrest and brought to Kennebec County Jail.

Ross is being held without bail. More arrests are expected in the case, Liberty said.
