BREWER, Maine — Firefighters from Brewer and three other local departments extinguished a fire Wednesday night at the Vacationland Inn less than half an hour after it started shortly after 8 p.m., an Penobscot Regional Communications Center dispatcher confirmed.

The fire at the inn, located at 453 Wilson St., was reported at 8:06 p.m. and was knocked down by 8:28 p.m, the dispatcher said. In addition to Brewer, firefighters from Eddington, Holden and Orrington turned out.

Despite the fire, the inn remained open for business Wednesday night, a front desk employee said.
