Bangor police, NSSF team up to host firearms safety event

BANGOR, Maine — The National Sports Shooting Foundation and the Bangor Police Department are teaming up to host a firearms safety event Sunday.

The Project ChildSafe Firearm Safety Event will be held at 1 p.m. at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Bangor Mall, according to Lt. Paul Edwards.

Representatives from Bangor police will be present, along with NSSF president and CEO Steve Sanetti.

The purpose of the event is to generate awareness for firearm safety and proper storage to prevent firearm accidents, thefts and misuse. Lock demonstrations will be held and safety kits will be distributed. Attendees are advised not to bring firearms.
