SYLVANIA, GA. – Julie Ann Staples Churney, 42, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Optim Medical Center-Screven, Sylvania, Ga. She was born in Bangor and was employed by G.S.U. Botanical Gardens where she worked as the events coordinator. She was also a member of Columbia Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David Francis Churney III of Sylvania, Ga.; her parents, Robert and Gladys Gould Staples of East Holden; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, David and Lynn Churney Jr. of Sylvania, Ga.; her sisters and brother-in-law, Joanna Staples of Atlanta, and Angie S. and Jason Bracket of Portland; her brother, Matthew Staples of Bangor; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, Sylvania, Ga. A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel, Sylvania, Ga., with the Rev. Mike Benson officiating. Burial will be at Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Her pallbearers are Calvin Scott, Harold Mock, Herbert Mock, Brian Scott, Brice Scott, and Juan Hill.
