WINDHAM, Maine — The Maine State Police is investigating the death of a 6-week-old child Thursday morning in Windham, the agency’s spokesman confirmed.

Police were called to a residence on Motorcycle Drive for a report of an unresponsive infant, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Thursday evening. He said that the child, who lived with both parents, died at the residence.

“There is no indication of foul play,” McCausland said. State police investigate every death involving a child under the age of 3 as a matter of protocol, he said.

The state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, he said. printed on April 30, 2017
