Portland police seek man who stole backpack from ferry line employee

PORTLAND, Maine — Police are seeking a suspect who allegedly stole a backpack from a Casco Bay Lines employee last week.

The theft occurred on Friday, according to a statement from Portland police.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s or 30s who may wear glasses. He was wearing a blue jacket, blue dress shirt and white dress pants at the time of the incident.

A video police released shows the man leaning over a low wall and grabbing the victim’s backpack, which contained approximately $600 in personal items.

Anyone with knowledge of the suspect’s location should contact Portland police Officer Thomas Kwok at 874-8533.
