Colby men’s soccer team shuts out Southern Maine

WATERVILLE, Maine —- Chris Pratt, Keith Chernin, and Yinka Onayemi all scored their first goals of the season in lifting the Colby College men’s soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference victory over University of Southern Maine on Tuesday.

Colby moves to 2-3 overall, while the Huskies drop to 0-8-1.

Pratt scored the opening goal of the game at 29:03 after heading in a corner kick from Dan Vogel.

Chernin added his goal with just 2:03 remaining to halftime. He took it all alone near the touch line and sneaked a shot in to make it 2-0

Onayemi scored his first collegiate goal at 66:21 when he took a ball out of the air and then turned and shot.

Quayle stopped five shots for Colby while Adam Verreault made four stops in the first half for USM and Matthew Willis played the final half and stopped six shots.

MMA 2, Thomas 1

At Castine, David Clough headed in the ball for a goal off a corner kick from David Lord with 34 seconds left in overtime to lift Maine Maritime Academy by Thomas.

Joshua Phelps put the Terriers of Waterville on the board first in the 19th minute when he netted a corner kick from Tre Ming.

A yellow card on Thomas set up the Mariners first goal in the 80th minute when MMA was awarded a free kick. Nicholas George passed the ball to Gabriel Warren in front of the box, and Warren scored.

MMA is now 3-3-2 and Thomas is 4-3.
