Hermon police investigating rash of motor vehicle break-ins, remind residents to lock up

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

HERMON, Maine — Hermon police Sgt. James Kennedy reminds residents to lock their vehicles in the aftermath of more than a dozen vehicle break-ins that occurred over the weekend.

At least 14 motor vehicle burglaries occurred Sunday night in a residential subdivision on streets including Wendy Acres Drive, Mountain View Drive, Copper Ridge Road and Stage Road, Kennedy said.

Electronics, loose change and other small valuables were taken, Kennedy said, adding that the burglaries likely would not have occurred had the affected residents locked their vehicles’ doors or brought their valuables inside.

Kennedy said anyone who sees or has seen suspicious activity in the community should call the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office at 945-4636.
