Hospital receives support from bank

BANGOR — Eastern Maine Medical Center is the recipient of $125,000 from KeyBank to the Remarkable Begins With You capital campaign, EMMC’s modernization project. The seven-story, 300,000-square-foot addition is a $294 million project and KeyBank announced that it is the first bank to offer financial support.

In recognition of this generous donation, the family lounge of the new EMMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will be named for KeyBank.

The construction project has just begun and will be underway for several years. In addition to the updated NICU, modernizations will include updated operating rooms to accommodate current and future medical advancements, an increase in hospital beds and private rooms, enhancements to women and infants services, and heart are consolidation.

The first phase of construction is expected to run into 2015 and the project will be completed in 2017.


Hotel construction

BANGOR — Maine Course Hospitality Group and its investors began construction on Sept. 18 on the TownePlace Suites by Marriott on Sylvan Road. The 82-suite hotel is expected to open during the summer of 2014.

The hotel will offer studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, with kitchens, an indoor pool and fitness room, free breakfast, business center and meeting room, and the Inn a Pinch market where guests can purchase snacks and sundries.
