MILO and WESLEY – David L. Hawkins, 57, died Sept. 20, 2013, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his daughter, Shawnie Murphy, by his side. David was born Feb. 15, 1956, in Machias, the son of Albert and Bernice (Gray) Hawkins.
David lived life to the fullest. He was a friend with a big heart, always willing to help someone out. David loved to go fishing and was a great cook. He shared many cookouts with friends and family. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Videl; and a nephew, Ryan Hawkins. He is survived by his daughter, Shawnie Murphy and her partner, Mario; his granddaughter, Mya, who was Papa’s greatest joy; his sister, Althea Lyford and her husband, Ronald; his two brothers, Allen Hawkins and his wife, Janine, and Gilbert Hawkins; special stepgrandchildren, Bridgette and Justin Teachout, and Brandon and Bryce Bridges; nieces, Monica, Pat, Debbie, Emily, and Keisha; special niece, Jackie Wright; and nephews, Evan and Francis. Love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck. Dad, you will never be forgotten. Love you, your daughter, Shawnie.
As per David’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements in the care of Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
