BANGOR – Clyde “Chuck, CW” Crowe, 80, passed away Sept. 20, 2013, at his home in Bangor, surrounded by his loving wife and close friends. He was born July 30, 1933, in Bristol, Tenn., the son of Clarence C. and Isabell M. (Campbell) Crowe.
Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired after 22 years of service as a Lt. Colonel. “Chuck” was also an entrepreneur, hard worker and true leader. He liked things done right and did them his own way. C&W Paper Company and The Woodland Terrace are among his many successful endeavors. In his leisure time he was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved nature and the outdoors. While living in North Dakota he also enjoyed being a Boy Scout Master. “CW” lived his life with principle, pride and compassion and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle and great friend too many.
Clyde leaves behind his loving wife, Ekaterine V. Crowe; his sister, Mary Jane Pickle and husband, Bruce, and nephew, Ronald Pickle; his sister, Betty Jo Baines-Woolwine and niece, Tammy Baines, and nephew, Danny Allen Baines; as well as many dear friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Clyde’s memory to Hospice of Eastern Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931.
