FARMINGTON — A Connecticut man was extradited back to Farmington on Thursday on a warrant charging unlawful sexual contact against a child under 18 years old in 2008, said Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr.
David Scott Rhodes, 45, of Taftville, Conn., formerly of Eustis, was arrested on the felony sex charge and two other warrants charging failure to appear on operating after license suspension.
Franklin County Lt. David Rackliffe and Cpl. Nate Bean traveled to Connecticut to pick up Rhodes to extradite him back to Maine, he said.
Rhodes recently had been arrested in Connecticut.
Lt. David St. Laurent conducted an investigation in 2008 involving a report of a sex crime between Rhodes and a juvenile, Nichols said.
As a result of the investigation Rhodes fled the state and an arrest warrant was issued, he said.
A conviction on the sex crime carries up to 10 years in prison.
Rhodes was being held on $5,500 cash bail at the Franklin County Jail in Farmington, a corrections officer said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon but it was called off. He now is expected to go before a judge on Monday.
