Maine women’s soccer team battles to 1-1 tie with Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. — The University of Maine women’s soccer team battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie at Northeastern on Friday night. It was the third straight double overtime tie for the Black Bears.

Maine (3-2-3) broke the scoreless tie at 73:57 when Nikki Misener played the ball up the field, before kicking it into the box. Jordan Pellerin was able to get a foot on the ball and kick it into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Northeastern tied the game just under eight minutes later. Morgan Hilby beat Maine keeper Claudia Dube-Trempe , who was making her collegiate debut.

Northeastern finished the game with a 12-6 advantage in shots. Dube-Trempe stopped four shots and NU’s Page Burnett had two.

UM-Fort Kent 4, UM-Machias 1

At Fort Kent, Matt Dunn scored two goals to lead UMaine-Fort Kent past UM-Machias.

UMFK improved to 7-0.
