Teenage boys arrested in connection with Brewer home invasion

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BREWER, Maine — Two teenage boys were arrested late Thursday evening in connection with a home invasion on Winter Street in Brewer, police said.

The suspects, ages 16 and 17, were both wearing masks as they attempted to break into the residence around 8:20 p.m., according to Brewer Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt.

One suspect was armed with a knife and another with an Airsoft gun designed to look real, Moffitt said.

The homeowners were present at the time of the incident and the suspects failed to gain entry and fled the scene, Moffitt said.

Multiple agencies, including police from Brewer, Holden and Bangor; state police; and Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies searched for the suspects, according to Moffitt.

At 11 p.m., evidence related to the crime was recovered by Brewer officers, and the suspects were taken into custody at a Parker Street residence, Moffitt said. They were transported to a juvenile detention facility.

The teens were charged with robbery, Moffitt said, and the investigation is ongoing.
