STARKS, Maine — A man is dead in Somerset County after he was apparently hit by a dump truck, according to police.
The man, whose name was not released, was killed in Starks after a truck owned by the town struck him, said Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland.
McCausland noted that the accident was reported shortly before 11 a.m., and state police and Somerset County sheriff’s deputies are investigating.
The crash shut down Route 43 between Anson and Starks for much of the morning and early afternoon, but the highway has since been reopened.
No further details were immediately available.
