SEDGWICK, Maine — A Deer Isle woman escaped serious injury when the car she was driving ran off the road and overturned, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Chelsea Brown, 18, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze west on Snows Cove Road when the accident occurred about 1:47 a.m. Sunday.

Her car went off the right side of the road, struck a tree, and rolled over onto the roof, according to Maj. Richard Bishop of the sheriff’s office.

Brown told the investigating deputy that she fell asleep while driving, according to Bishop.

Brown, who was not charged, complained of pain to her right arm.

The vehicle was a total loss.
