BREWER, Maine — Police charged a man with marijuana possession late Saturday night following a Brewer traffic stop.

Cpl. Steve Boyd had pulled over Zachary Bullock, 21, of Hampden shortly before midnight after he ran a red light, according to Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt.

Bullock had driven through the red light at the intersection of Wilson and South Main Streets, Moffitt said.

Upon questioning the driver, Boyd immediately smelled the odor of marijuana and a search of a backpack in the driver’s seat turned up a mason jar containing three baggies of marijuana, the deputy chief said.

Bullock was not arrested but was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, Moffitt said.
