BELFAST, Maine — Police are investigating a bomb threat that closed a section of Main Street on Saturday afternoon.

Police reported that someone called in the threat to a business after 2 p.m. Saturday. Police and members of the Fire Department used yellow police tape to close off a section of the north side of Main Street. An officer and fire officials were inside The Green Store.

Several businesses were evacuated during the search. A Maine State Police bomb-sniffing dog was brought in to assist in the search.

No bomb was found and the section of the downtown was reopened after about an hour.

The department said it was trying to track down who called in the threat.
