CASTINE, Maine — A local man is facing charges after his vehicle struck a pedestrian, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

In an incident report summary, Lt. Tim Cote of the sheriff’s department indicated that the accident occurred on Sept. 9. The pedestrian, a female student at Maine Maritime Academy, was struck while walking along a sidewalk. She was transported by private vehicle to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for back and hip injuries, Cote indicated.

After investigating, the sheriff’s department summoned Scott Vogell, 62, of Castine, on a charge of leaving the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle accident, Cote wrote in the summary.

Further information about the incident was unavailable Friday afternoon.
