BANGOR, Maine — With up to 5,000 people expected for Sunday’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, numerous road closures have been announced.
The 5K race will start at 10 a.m. and the 1K 15 minutes later. The 5K follows Front Street to May Street to Cedar Street before winding up Main Street to Lincoln Street, turning onto Webster Avenue, onto Buck Street and Main Street before finishing on Railroad Street.
The 1K route will head down Front Street to the end of the waterfront at the rear of Hollywood Slots and back.
Bangor police Lt. Paul Edwards said Main Street from Cedar to Buck Streets will be closed to traffic at 9:30 a.m., with all side streets that turn onto Main Street blocked off at 9:15.
Front, May and Buck Streets, along with West Broadway and Webster Avenue, will be temporarily closed, along with Summer Street in front of the police station.
All roads should be open to traffic by 12:30 p.m., while areas along the waterfront may be closed until 3:00. Participants are expected to start milling in the waterfront area around 7 a.m.
