BREWER, Maine — Two Bangor transients were charged with theft on Thursday after they failed to pay for $120 worth of items at Walmart, police said.

Loss prevention staff had observed the men concealing backpacks and shoes inside the store, according to Brewer police Cpl. Paul Gauvin.

The men’s names weren’t immediately available, Gauvin said. One suspect is 18 while the other is 24, he said.

As the men left the store, a loss prevention officer was able to stop one suspect while the other walked away toward Wilson Street, according to Gauvin.

While police were en route to the scene, they spotted the man and brought him back to the store, the corporal said.

Both men received a Class E misdemeanor charge of theft and were not arrested.
