LEWISTON, Maine — One person was stabbed late Tuesday night and police were investigating at the intersection of Blake and Birch streets.

A male stabbing victim was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, said Lt. David St. Pierre of the Lewiston Police Department. He did not know the victim’s condition.

Blake and Birch streets were cordoned off around 10:35 p.m. as officers also taped off 120 Blake St., concentrating their search for evidence. Several officers were on scene.

Blake Street was also blocked off at Walnut Street as officers narrowed their investigation.

Officers reportedly found a trail of blood at the crime scene a short distance up Blake Street from its intersection with Birch.

Detectives from the Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division were on scene.
